Online creative writing courses designed in partnership with the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing at UEA
Develop a writing routine and gain regular feedback on your work from an experienced tutor with an online creative writing course, designed by National Centre for Writing and University of East Anglia.
Our courses can be accessed from anywhere in the world, at any time. They include exercises, interactive Zoom sessions, hand-picked resources and regular tutor feedback, and you’ll share the experience with a small group of fellow students.
Choose from courses in: fiction, scriptwriting, creative non-fiction, historical fiction, poetry, memoir and crime fiction.
‘Having someone read and feedback on my writing gave me focus and motivation.’ — Jenny
How our tutored online courses work
Our Creative Writing Online courses take place entirely over the internet. All you need is a computer and an internet connection. The majority of the course is delivered in text form, making it easy to progress through the course chapter-by-chapter. We run 12- and 24-week courses.
Forum-based student discussions are included throughout the course, providing an opportunity for students to interact with each other and the course tutor. To get the most out of the course, we recommend taking part in as many discussions as possible.
The course is divided into six modules, each of which introduces an aspect of the craft of writing. Your knowledge will be developed through writing exercises, the analysis of samples of writing and discussion with your tutor and fellow students.
Every two weeks you will submit an assignment to your tutor, who will then respond with constructive feedback and advice. Outside of those assignment deadlines you can progress through the lessons and exercises at your own pace.
‘Quite simply, the course made me enjoy writing again.’ — Andy
